Carl Linnaeus: born 1707 at Råshult in Stenbrohult parish in Småland, student in Lund 1727 and in Uppsala 1728, MD in Hardervijk (Holland) 1735, appointed physician at the Admiralty in Stockholm 1739, chair of Practical Medicine and Natural-History at the University of Uppsala and supervisor of the botanical garden 1741-77, dead 1778 in Uppsala.
