The electronic version of Museum Adolphi Fricerici is constructed around

• Photos of specimens still preserved in the NRM collection. Colour slide images have been transferred to JPEG format. The size of the JPEG files is mostly about 50 kb. It may thus last a while to download an image. All images have been modifed especially with regard to brightness and contrast. Most of them have also been slightly retouched, especially to remove dust from the background,
• Scanned portions of Museum Adolphi Friderici (Linnaeus, 1754, 1764).

For every animal group there is a "home page" with a table listng all species described in Museum Adolphi Friderici, with page and figure reference, and corresponding name in Systema Naturae (Linnaeus, 1758), and catalogue number of the NRM specimens if any have been preserved.

The site is being gradually developed. This is the current state for each group in regard to images available:

• Fishes — about one-third of the material still not uploaded
• Amphibians — practically complete
• Reptiles — practically complete
• Birds — nothing yet available
• Mammals — only some images available
