Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber: Born in 1739 in Weissensee, Thüringen, Germany. Studied medicine, natural science and theology at Halle and Uppsala, took his M. D. degree 1760 in Uppsala, practicing physician at Bützow, Mecklenburg with a readership at the University in 1761, professor of medicine and botany at Erlangen in 1770, director of the Erlangen botanical garden in 1773, professor of natural history in 1776, member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1787, knighted in 1791, dead 1810 in Erlangen.
